BT Pay - Increased Offer Rejected

BT slightly increased its offer on Pay today, increasing its "dismal" offer of 1% to a "completely inadequate" 1.4% plus the 0.5% cash bonus.

The CWU continue to make clear to BT that this level of offer is not going to form the basis of a settlement and expressed concern that BT's offers are neither realistic, nor aimed at avoiding an industrial dispute.

Inflation continues to sit at 2.4% and the offer of 1.4% on base pay and allowances represents a cut in your pay in real terms, as well as failing to reflect the effort and co-operation you have contributed to a continually profitable "blue chip" company.

Of course, the CWU remains committed to a negotiated settlement but clearly, not at any price.

Your negotiators spelt out to BT in no uncertain terms that if the position with BT does not improve substantially, industrial action will be an inevitability.

Negotiations are continuing over the next week and the Union will do everything possible to find a way forward. Members will continue to be kept advised and should continue to feed back your views to your branch.
