CWU Launches New Learning Website

Last Tuesday in Liverpool saw the launch of a brand new website for all our members who are interested in learning and education. The site will provide:

The site was launched at the CWU’s second annual Union Learning Representatives Conference in Liverpool by Frances O’Grady the Deputy General Secretary of the TUC.

Trish Lavelle, CWU Head of Education and Training, said that “the website will be a real focal point for union learning, which is a massive growth area for the CWU. We aim to provide relevant and up to date information and support for members, Branches and Union learning Representatives through the site.”

She added “we have provided over 4000 of our members with courses through our network of learning centres. This site will refer even more of our members to their nearest union learning centre or union learning representative for support and guidance, so that eventually we can reach out to every single member of the CWU and offer them even more opportunities to learn.”

Steve Rowland, Branch Chair of Manchester Combined, and a delegate at the Conference commented ‘This is a great bit of kit for all members and not just ULR’s. It breaks you down into areas where you live, who to deal with, what courses are on offer and where you need to go for any help you require. Also on the site from January 2006 you will be able to book any CWU union course on line. This will be a great help to the members as they will be able to see at a glance what’s on offer from their union.”
