CWU Retired Members Section

September 2005

The Committee hopes to welcome you to our first section meeting of the autumn session, the summer recess is now over but the committee and I have been busy at various meetings.

The Scottish Pensioners Forum had their Conferences on the 14^th June in Hamilton Council Building lovely premises and the Council treated us to a grand buffet lunch. The meeting was well attended and our speakers were Malcolm Chisholm M.S.P and Christine Graham M.S.P who were excellent and well worth listening to, also from the conference myself and David Oattes were again elected to the Executive Committee. Since which we have had further meetings with the Committee.

The CWU conference in June was held in Blackpool, two members of the section committee Owen Horisk and Jimmy Gillespie attended and we look forward to a report from them on the fringe meeting and how the proposition from the Retired Advisory Committee were received by the conference.

Please try and be at the section meeting on September 8^th for these reports. We have arranged a temporary venue for this meeting only at the STUC office in 333 Woodlands Road. The best way to get there is to take the underground to Kelvinbridge and come out at lower level. It is the old Woodside School.

We are also organizing our Christmas Lunch once again and you and your partner are invited to join us for what, in the past few years has been a most enjoyable time. It is hoped that this will take place on the 8^th December and we require early notification of numbers. If you wish to attend come along to the meeting on Sept 8^th or phone Bob Cadzow on 01389873351.

I look forward to seeing you on the 8^th Sept. as there are many important things to discuss.
