As you will appreciate this is a very
important moment for the CWU and more importantly for PTS members in the
CWU. RM have declared their total disregard and contempt for
the engineering community. Our members future and yours is now down to
supporting your union.

Subject: INDUSTRIAL ACTION BALLOT ANNOUNCED
Dear Colleague
INDUSTRIAL ACTION BALLOT ANNOUNCED
The Postal Executive met today to receive a report from the Union's
negotiating team. The team confirmed that no agreement had been reached
on the issues in dispute and as a result the Executive agreed to set the
following timetable for industrial action:
- Notice sent to the employer: Monday 3rd July
- Ballot papers dispatched: From Monday 10th July
- Ballot closes: Monday 31st July
The timetable has been set to demonstrate our determination to Royal
Mail to reach an acceptable negotiated settlement.
CHAIRMAN'S MEETING "WORKING WITH THE TRADE UNION"
The Postal Executive also decided that, further to the advice issued on
Friday, no representatives or members should attend the Chairman's
meetings in London and Birmingham later this week.
Given that we've taken a decision on the ballot, we believe our priority
and the priority for Royal Mail should be reaching a negotiated
settlement, not participating in PR stunts.
We have offered the Chairman and the Chief Executive the opportunity to
meet with our negotiating team for the remainder of the week to allow
progress to be made in reaching an acceptable agreement.
We have also offered Royal Mail the opportunity to hold a joint briefing
for all interested parties once an agreement has been reached.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
