Pay & Major Change (P&MC)

The introduction of new Terms and Conditions, including increased Pay, are still at an early stage. However, apart from some teething problems and one or two important exceptions the feedback is generally positive.

MTL/MSTL recruitment

An Agreement covering MTL/MSTL recruitment is awaiting signature and will be circulated in due course. This states that vacancies will be displayed in the Mail Centre first and if necessary will be extended through a National Gazette advertisement. The agreement has retained the commitment that seniority will be used if identical marks are obtained in the assessment.

Strategic Involvement

The first of a series of Strategic Involvement meetings has taken place with RME. We have jointly identified key issues which will require continued CWU input/monitoring including: various aspects of P&MC e.g.. bonus & SRT; future of TECEX; CBM;  and SDMM; etc. RME have appointed their ‘Heads of Territory’ to lead on these and other issues. It has been agreed that, where appropriate, the CWU will similarly ‘assign’ our Territorial Reps. This will take place in the near future after discussion with individuals involved.

MTL Grading

As a result of a number of enquiries an understanding has been reached that prior to April 2006 MTL Grading will be S7. After which it will be S8.

HWDC (Langley)

A national meeting was held on 6th July to discuss outstanding pay related issues. It was RME’s view that these issues needed to be progressed in line with bringing the ‘interim agreement’ to a conclusion. To this end Neal Farrow (Territorial Rep), and local Representatives, had an initial meeting on 26th July with local management. They identified a number of issues that need addressing including attendance arrangements, which have been a cause for concern for some time.
